New Leads in Buddy Myers Case Come Up Cold

Posted Updated

SAMPSON COUNTY — What was being called one of the most promising leads in the disappearance of Buddy Myers has turned up nothing.

Sampson County Sheriff's Major John Hayes says a nurse in Idaho thought a boy who came in for medical treatment was Buddy Myers.

Buddy, who just turned five, disappeared from his Sampson County home in October.

The nurse read about his case in a magazine.

Hayes says by working with the FBI in Idaho, investigators were able to determine the boy was not Buddy.

Reports of a sighting in Johnston County last week also turned out to be the wrong boy.
