<b>NEW YORK CITY</b> — U.S. Marshals captured an Edgecombe County escapee in New York early Friday evening.

Lamont King broke out of jail early Sunday morning. Authorities traced King's whereabouts to New York City, where he was taken into custody without incident.

King was awaiting trial on drug charges when he escaped. His trial was scheduled to start Monday. He is now in federal custody in New York, pending extradition back to North Carolina.
