FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville developer is on a mission to increase the number of homeowners in Cumberland County.
Figures released from
show that few minorities in the county own homes.
The Kingdom Community Development Corporation is committed to increasing homeownership in Cumberland County.
The Fairley Estates subdivision is the first phase of its homebuilding project.
"There are so many people here that really can't afford to go through a rental state company to buy a home, so we're building these homes more affordable," says James Howard of Kingdom Community Development.
Howard says there are plans to put 20 more families into homes in the Wilmington Road neighborhood.
The second phase of Fairley Estates in expected to begin in 2002.
