Posted July 17, 2001

— Duke Energy

says it has restored power to as many as 1,000 customers in southeast Durham.

Durham police say a moving van hit a utility pole at Roxboro Road and Dowd Street around 9:35 a.m., knocking out traffic lights and power to the area. The power was back on by 11:15 a.m.

Duke Energy says the distribution circuit that feeds Roxboro Road, Fayetteville Street, Gurley Street and Main Street was affected. Power was also out from Elizabeth Street to Alston Avenue.
