Greg Fishel Explains Heat And Humidity

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — A lot of people will blame the humidity when the weather is oppressively hot. But as Greg Fishel shows us, humidity is relative. For instance, when the temperature is cool and the humidity is at 50 percent, the amount of water vapor in the air is much less than it would be on a hot day like Wednesday with 50 percent humidity.

In other words, not every 50 percent is equal.

A better measure of the total amount of water in the air is the dew point temperature.
