Lake Where Soldier Drowned Will Remain Open To Public

Four people have drowned in Acapulco Lake over the last two years. Last Sunday, a Fort Bragg soldier drowned after doing a flip off a 40-foot cliff. The 82nd Airborne now prohibits soldiers from going to the lake.

The manager of the lake decided against closing it, but says he will do what he can to make it safe.

"I'm hoping, like I said, to talk to the general or whoever we have to, and work out some rules and regulations. And whatever they want us to do, that's what we'll do," said manager Mike Gale.

There are some new rules in place already. You have to be sixteen years old to dive off the cliff, and you have to jump feet first. Children are required to wear life preservers.

Gale may also hire lifeguards.
