Hispanic Church Vandalized

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Vandals have hit a Raleigh church for the second time.

Pastors found black paint on the sign that marks the meeting place for Iglesia Cristiana Renacer.

A few months ago, they had to chain the sign to a tree because someone stole it twice.

The congregation uses space in the North Haven Church and the sign is one of the few things they own. Rev. Elba Toledo says the vandalism sends a painful message.

"What I feel is that people are telling us we don't want you here. And it's sad because there's a big need in the Hispanic community for Christian churches. We are not the only Christian church in Raleigh. We hope they don't do that to the other churches," says Toledo.
