WASHINGTON — The Carolina Courage stretched its winless streak to five games with a 2-0 loss to the Washington Freedom.

The win was the first for the Freedom in four games.

Bai Jie had a goal and an assist in the game.

The Courage was forced to play the last part of the game a player short. Goalkeeper Kristin Luckenbill was red carded for intentionally handling the ball out of the box while attempting to stop a breakaway.

Allison Snooks replaced Luckenbill, and midfielder Kim Yankowski left the game.

The start of the game was delayed 52 minutes because of severe weather. The game was the first match of a W.U.S.A.--M.L.S. doubleheader. The Colorado Rapids played D.C. United in the second game.
