Sisters Killed In Wreck At Dangerous Highway Intersection

Posted Updated

KNIGHTDALE — No charges will be filed against a pickup truck driver after a deadly accident in Knightdale Wednesday afternoon.

Two women were killed in the wreck on Highway 64, near Marks Creek Road, just east of Knightdale.

Sisters Francis Eddins, 66, and Vivian Massey, 84, were trying to pull out onto Highway 64 at Mark's Creek Road. A pickup truck traveling eastbound on Highway 64 hit the their Buick LeSabre, killing the two ladies inside.

David Strickland, the driver of the truck, was not injured.

Some neighbors say they have been trying to get a light installed at the intersection for over five years.

As far back as 1995, the Department of Transportation considered this to be one of the Triangle's most dangerous intersections.

The DOT tells WRAL it has plans to install curbs that would prevent people on Mark's Creek Road from cutting across the highway or turning left.
