Man Charged With Killing Friend With Cement Block

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Raleigh Police have charged a man with fatally striking a lifelong friend on the head with a cement block.

Investigators have charged 67-year-old Ralph Earl Evans with the murder of 62-year-old Earl Timothy Morgan.

Police say Evans felt Morgan was disrespecting him during an argument yesterday.

Evans told officers that Morgan had subjected him to a long-running series of insults on such subjects as Evans' education and the food they were eating. Investigators say Morgan visited Evans' home yesterday morning, where the argument resumed and resulted in the attack.

Police received three nine-one-one calls, including one from Evans. Morgan died in the surgical intensive care unit at a local hospital.

Police say Evans initially denied knowing what had happened, then admitted he hit the victim.
