Hold Your Hostas! Enthusiasts Flock To Triangle To Discuss Plants

Posted Updated

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK — To some people, hostas are just simple plants. For others, the plants means much, much more.

Hostas lovers from across the country came to Research Triangle Park Thursday to celebrate their favorite plant.

"It's sort of like an AA convention for people who like hostas. They are addicted to hostas," said hosta lover Tony Avent. "They come from all around the world to console each other about their hostas, to congratulate each other and to collect more hostas."

If you, too, are hooked on hostas, the national meeting will continue through Saturday. Vendor sales are open to the public at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel.
