Wife Of N.C. 'Idol' Contestant Gets Makeover

RALEIGH, N.C. — American Idol is down to the final 11 contestants, three of whom are from North Carolina. The wife of one of those finalists was recently treated to a makeover at Sam and Bill's Hair Salon in Raleigh.

While Rockingham, N.C., native Bucky Covington is in Hollywood, his wife, Crystal, is cheering on her husband from North Carolina.

Catherine Lyles recently saw a picture of Crystal in the Rockingham newspaper and worried about the wife of the star.

"No woman wants to wake up and see her husband with all these beautiful women around him," Lyles said. "I just thought it would be nice to do something fun for her and give her a little bit of the red carpet treatment."

Crystal said she hopes her husband does well in the competition.

"You just take it day by day and see what happens," she said. "[I told him] just do it and if you make it, you make it. If you don't, we'll go home and we'll try something later."

Crystal and Bucky Covington have been married six years. She has made frequent trips to California to see him perform on "American Idol."
