Raleigh police have dismissed second-degree sexual assault charges against a Raleigh man arrested earlier this month in connection with an attack on a female jogger on a Raleigh greenway.

Jamaal McLeod, 23, was released from the Wake County Jail after investigators found new information that another man may have committed the assault.

On March 3, police said, a woman was jogging on the Capital Area Greenway off of Raleigh Boulevard when she was attacked by a man who grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

Police arrested McLeod on March 7 after, they said, they had sufficient probable cause to name him as a suspect.

On Tuesday, however, police said in a news release, that "the continuing investigation developed information that another individual may have in fact committed the assault."

Reginald Wadsworth McNeill, 36, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual offense as a result of the investigation.
