One Injured After Truck Carrying Cement Hits Car

An accident involving a truck carrying cement and a car late Monday morning in Cumberland County resulted in one person being airlifted to a local hospital.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident happened at about 11 a.m. at the intersection of

Lake Upchurch and Old Plank roads

in Hope Mills when the concrete truck crossed the center line and hit the car head-on.

The victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where his or her condition was not immediately known.

Charges in the accident are pending, the Highway Patrol said. The names of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.
