HENDERSON, N.C. — The federal government is helping to make sure some people in the Triangle area have drinking water for the next 30 years.
Officials have worked out a deal to help people who depend on the Kerr Regional Water system.
The new deal allows the system to withdraw up to 20 million gallons of water a day, which triples the current capacity.
Customers will probably reap the benefits of the deal on their water bills.
The bills will go up about 45 cents per month. Officials said if the deal was not reached, it would have been much more.
