Mail Arrives Months After Being Sent To Raleigh Business

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The U.S. Postal Service handles tons of mail each day, the majority of which gets to its destination in a timely manner. Every now and then there can be a delivery snafu.

Eight pieces of mail with checks made out to a Raleigh business were delivered several months late.

The letters, postmarked October 26, August 21 and October 17, 2000 were finally delivered on Monday June 4, 2001.

The errant mail was discovered when a secretary noticed the checks she was trying to enter into the system were for bills that were paid last year. That is when she noticed the dates on the envelopes.

Some of the envelopes were mailed from across town.

Raleigh postal officials were made aware of the delayed delivery. The business owner has been instructed to return the envelopes to the post office, so they can try to figure out what caused the delivery delay.
