Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham is getting a new courthouse. County commissioners have given the green light for the new facility.

The new courthouse will replace a funeral home. Durham leaders will pay the owners more than $3.7 million for the property.

The prime piece of real estate is located next to the county jail in downtown Durham.

The board of commissioners had threatened to invoke eminent domain to force the business off the land.
