e-mail print friendly

Authorities say a van hit a school bus in Wake County Monday, but there were no students on the bus at the time.

The accident happened at around 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of South New Hope Road and Poole Road. Police say the van pulled out in front of the bus, hitting it and causing the bus to flip on its side.

Two adults were on the bus, one of whom was taken to the hospital. There is no word on that person's condition, but that person's injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the van was not injured. He was cited for failure to yield.
