RALEIGH — Students from Southeast Raleigh High School say North Carolina's schools are among the safest in the country, and they want to keep their campus safe.
They are members of "Students Against Violence Everywhere," or S.A.V.E., and Saturday, they marched in downtown Raleigh to show their support for safe schools.
"We're out here to raise awareness for the youth," says S.A.V.E. member Kim Winston. "We really care about violence and we want it down. (Fortunately), it's pretty safe around here. North Carolina is an example for the country."
Members of SAVE hope the anti-school violence rally will become a yearly event. The national organization was founded after the death of a high school student.
