WILSON COUNTY, N.C. — A tractor-trailer truck and an SUV collided late Friday evening, killing one and seriously injuring two others.
Authorities said that the wreck occurred on Interstate 95 near the Wilson/Johnston County line. According to authorities, a Ford Explorer overcorrected and flipped over in the southbound lanes. The 18-wheeler then hit the Explorer, which burst into flames.
One person inside the Explorer were killed. Two other people inside the vehicle were airlifted to an area hospital.
Several miles of I-95 southbound were closed late Friday while authorities continued their investigation. There is no word yet on the identities of those inside the vehicles.
