JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Traffic backed up at the intersection of I-40 and I-95 in Johnston County late Friday afternoon after a series of accidents on both sides of the interstate.
The situation began around 4 p.m., when a wreck on I-95 northbound at the intersection with I-40 blocked a lane of traffic. Shortly afterward, another accident occurred in the same area in the southbound lanes. There were two other wrecks around the same time, but those are said to be minor.
There are an unknown number of injuries in the collisions. Authorities were clearing the scene late Friday afternoon.
