DURHAM, NC — SJF Ventures
, a venture capital fund with offices in Durham and Philadelphia, has closed on $15 million thus far in raising its second fund.
The most recent investor was Calvert Social Investment Fund.
SJF is targeting $30 million for its new fund and said it anticipates closing the round later this year.
Also investing in the round are Deutsche Bank, MBNA, Wachovia, Merrill Lynch, HSBC, State Street (bank), KeyBank, foundations The F. B. Heron and Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundations, two community finance trade associations, plus individual investors and entrepreneurs.
SJF's first fund raised $17 million in 2000.
