A former Fayetteville police officer accused of breaking the law pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court.

Jared Benjamin Parsek, an officer with the Fayetteville Police Department from August 2003 to February 2005, along with eight other men who were not police officers, was indicted by a federal grand jury last October on several federal charges, ranging from drug possession to obstruction of justice.

According to the indictment, Parsek would collect information about burglary targets and notify the other men, who would then break in and steal property, such as guns, drugs and electronics, and later divide up the property.

The eight other men accused in the investigation also entered guilty pleas.

Sentenced is scheduled for June.
