Five Police Officers Placed On Administrative Leave For Hotel Incident

RALEIGH — A road trip to the nation's capital has several Raleigh police officers off the street.
Five officers from the Raleigh Police Department have been placed on administrative duty because of an incident at a Washington, D.C.-area hotel. The officers were in Washington, D.C., for the Law Enforcement Memorial ceremony, honoring police officers killed in the line of duty.
Interim Chief Maj. John Knox said the incident leaves the impression of a smudge of the gold badge of the Raleigh Police Department.
"We have a very professional department here, and it hurts when some of us are accused or get involved in conduct that may seem less than professional," he said.
Knox said he cannot comment on the type of misconduct because the investigation is ongoing. He also declined to comment on whether the officers could lose their jobs because of the incident.
