CUMBERLAND COUNTY — Law enforcement officers, along with their families and friends of the police community, honored officers killed in the line of duty in Cumberland County on Wednesday.
This year's Peace Officers memorial service was dedicated to State Highway Patrol Trooper John Duncan. He died during a high speed pursuit back in January.
On Wednesday, Duncan's wife, Kim, saw his name etched into the permanent memorial that sits in front of the courthouse.
"A lot of law enforcement officers go out every day and place their lives on the line everyday and don't know if they will go home in the evening to their children, their family members, their wives or husbands," she says. "We need to remember those officers when we see them every day and thank them for the job they do every day.
Duncan was the 31st law officer killed in the line of duty in Cumberland County since 1907.
