DURHAM, N.C. — The condition of a state trooper injured in a horrific crash in Durham on Friday has now improved.
Authorities say that Trooper Jerry Brand is in serious but stable condition at Duke Hospital. His injuries are reportedly non-life threatening, including two broken legs and a broken left arm.
Brand was involved in the high-speed pursuit of a green Honda that was attempting to elude a police checkpoint when he lost control and crashed
near Angier Avenue and Tyonek Road
late Friday morning. Witnesses pulled the trooper from his car before it caught fire.
