Site SearchDURHAM, N.C. — The condition of a state trooper injured in a horrific crash in Durham on Friday has now improved.
Authorities say that Trooper Jerry Brand is in serious but stable condition at Duke Hospital. His injuries are reportedly non-life threatening, including two broken legs and a broken left arm.
Brand was involved in the high-speed pursuit of a green Honda that was attempting to elude a police checkpoint when he lost control and crashed
near Angier Avenue and Tyonek Road
late Friday morning. Witnesses pulled the trooper from his car before it caught fire.
Authorities are still searching for the person responsible for the incident. Anyone with information about the crash or a possible suspect should contact the Highway Patrol Communication Center at
