Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A new

statewide report

shows almost 5 percent, about 1 in 20 students, dropped out of high school during the last academic year -- a slight decrease from the year before.

Native Americans had the highest high school dropout rate in the state at almost 10 percent, followed by Hispanics and blacks.

The rate for each group, however, dropped from the previous year.
