DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County sheriff's deputies have arrested a "highly intoxicated" man who they say had been firing a rifle near Falls Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities received a call at about 2:30 p.m. that a man was firing a rifle or shotgun in his backyard at

3930 Falls Lake Road

.

Although they said no one had been harmed and no one else was at the house, they wanted him to put down the weapon.

Authorities took Doug Green into custody shortly after 5 p.m. He was taken to Duke University Medical Center for observation. They have not yet filed any charges.
