JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities have released some new information about a homicide that revealed a dog-fighting operation in Johnston County.
Deputies were called to a home Friday where they found Danny Edwards shot and critically injured. He later died at a local hospital. Authorities believe the suspect, Keon "Max" Rowe, shot Edwards over a pit bull sale.
Investigators said Rowe is also wanted on drug and assault charges in Ashe County.
Detectives believe Rowe could be in New York where he has family or he could still be in the area.
Animal Control is looking to find homes for 47 pit bulls that were seized.
