Raleigh Center Offers Rehabilitation For Homeless

WAKE COUNTY — There is a new place that offers hope forRaleigh's homeless and drug or alcohol abusers.

The Healing Place of Wake County

officially opened Wednesday.

Modeled on a successful center in Kentucky, The Healing Place is a placewhere lives are put back together.

"It's an one-way ticket to freedom, sobriety,whatever, your addiction may be, and thisis it," says one participant who did not want to be identified.

"Everybody here is in the same boat, so tospeak, and you can relate to them the second youtalk to them. That's great for recovery," says another participant.

The Healing Place now has about 60 residentsbut will soon handle about 150 at a time.The multi-million dollar center was built and supported through privatedonations.
