CLAYTON, N.C. — Clayton police have charged a driver they believe was involved in a serious hit-and-run wreck last Friday.
Matthew Vennard, 28, who is from just outside Clayton, was arrested and charged with felony hit and run Thursday night, police said.
Police received a tip Thursday night from someone who thought they had spotted the suspect vehicle from the wreck that was at the intersection of Guy and Winston Roads last week.
In that wreck, Daniel Pruitt, 19, was riding a motorcycle on Guy Road and was waiting to turn onto Winston Road when he was rear-ended. The driver who hit him fled the scene and was last seen traveling down Guy Road toward Wake County.
Vennard is in the Johnston County Jail with a $60,000 bond.
