RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities say a man currently in the Cumberland County Jail stole a sport utility vehicle with a child inside.
Witnesses say on Feb. 17, 27-year-old Jessie Williams pulled the SUV over on a South Carolina highway and left the 3-year-old boy on the side of the road.
Other drivers stopped, picked up the boy and called police. The boy was not hurt and reunited with his dad.
The stolen SUV was later found in Fayetteville. Williams is in jail under $1,000 secured bond on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.
