Suspect Arrested In Fatal Warren County Gas Station Shooting

Vance County authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a man pumping gas at a BP gas station Monday night off of Interstate 85 in Warren County.

  • Video:

Deshaun Leavitt, of Vance County, was arrested shortly after 4:30 p.m. for allegedly shooting June E. Bullock, 30, of Manson.

The shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, investigators said, at Boyd's BP Station. Investigators said Bullock stumbled inside the gas station after being shot in the back, collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting, but they do not believe it was random.

"There appears there were drugs involved in this homicide," said Warren County Sheriff Johnny Williams.

Investigators said they found drugs on Bullock's body. According to court records, Bullock had more than 22 charges against him in both Warren and Vance counties, including charges of cocaine possession.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified the victim as June Bullard.
