FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Families in one Cumberland County apartment complex think they have a peeping Tom in their neighborhood.
Some renters said someone has been walking around Cumberland Towers Apartments in Cumberland County, peeking through windows.
One girl, Kimberly Taylor, said she saw a man outside her bedroom.
"(He was) kind of tall and just standing there," Taylor said.
Like many people who live at the complex, the Taylors are a military family. While Taylor's father is deployed, her stepmother and sister are home alone.
Even civilians feel nervous. Some refuse to live on the first floor.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said it has only received one call about a peeping Tom.
"A lot of this crime isn't reported because it's embarrassing," said Debbie Tanna, a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. "It's embarrassing to know that someone has been looking in on your private moments."
Deputies worry the man may have more than just peeping on his mind.
So do renters -- that's why they said they stay alert, looking out their windows for someone looking in.
Authorities do not yet have a suspect because they said no one has been able to get a good look at the perpetrator to be able to give a description.
