ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — This week, crews will be working on removing asbestos from the old Tarrytown Mall in Rocky Mount.
Floodwaters from Hurricane Floyd filled Tarrytown Mall more than six years ago. The mall has been closed ever since.
The building will be demolished after the asbestos has been safely removed. There is not a date for demolition. It will depend on how long it takes for the asbestos to be removed from the building.
Wal-Mart bought the property last year. A Sam's Club will take Tarrytown Mall's place.
