For the past two days, Monica Lopez, her husband and their two daughters have been staying at a Johnston County. Their belongings were reduced to charred memories and ashes, and their money is running out.
Community activist Keri Christenen is trying to help them.
"Monica, the 5-year-old, woke up yesterday morning and said, 'Now, we can't have Christmas because we don't have a house for Santa Claus to come to.' So it is very devastating for them,'" she says.
"When I got scared, I told my daughters to go outside, and I just couldn't take it," Lopez says. "I don't have any family here."
The family is looking for a place to stay, along with food and clothes donations.
