School Water Problem Has Quick Solution

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT — Students were forced to leave Swift Creek Edison Elementary School early Monday. The Nash County school found itself without water..

But the students didn't miss a day of classes -- thanks to an offer from Winstead Avenue School.

Winstead was on break, so there were no children in the classrooms.

So Swift Creek children were moved to Winstead and teaching continued.

And what caused the problem? Officials think a part that governs the water supply took a lightning hit.

The part, which costs only $33, is being replaced and all children should be back where they belong tomorrow -- at both Swift Creek and Winstead.

Swift Creek Edison Principal Deborah Carroll said she heard children commenting on how nice Winstead Avenue School was to let them move in for a day.
