Duke Power Restoring Electricity to 60,000

Posted Updated

DURHAM — It was a dark Friday night for people in many sections of Chapel Hill, Durham and Carrboro.

About 60,000 Duke Power customers in Durham and Orange counties lost power Friday evening when a transmission line at the intersection of Cook Road and Martin Luther King Extension was damaged by a construction crew about 6 p.m.

The power company dispatched crews and restored power to most customers by 10 p.m.
