Investigators say Amtrak's Silver Palm slammed into a car parked on the tracks south of Hope Mills.

The man in the car was killed. No one on the train was injured.

Police say they think the driver of the car stopped on the tracks deliberately.

Mykia Daniel, an eighth grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh apartment. A 16-year-old was charged with her murder.
