RALEIGH — Raleigh played host to a football and cheerleading championship this weekend, attracting families from seven states.

Teams from around the South battled the rain for a chance to go to the Pop Warner football national championship in Orlando next weekend. The players and cheerleaders were all at the Pee Wee and Midget levels.

The enthusiastic parents did not mind the weather. They were focused on supporting their children to victory.

"That's my son!" one mother says. "We want to support them. We're here to win!"

The 4,000 athletes, coaches and parents added about $1 million to Raleigh's economy.
