CARY, N.C. — November 20, 2000
The family of a missing Cary teenager is pleading for help.
Amanda Simpson-Deane, 16, was last seen at Cary High School on September 19. Officers found her bookbag in a pond just off East Chatham Street.
Police drained the pond, but found nothing. Her grandfather, Bill Simpson, hopes that she will come home safely.
"I hope there was no foul play, but at this point when we can't locate her and no one is supplying any information, you have got to leave that open," he says.
Amanda was last seen wearing an orange-and-blue pullover, blue jeans and blue-and-white sneakers. Anyone with information should call the Cary Police Department at
