RALEIGH — Most moviegoers agree that babies and theaters do not usually mix well. For the first time ever, two Triangle theaters are offering "Baby Night" on Mondays for all 7 p.m. shows.

Mission Valley in Raleigh and Lumina in Chapel Hill hope to accommodate new parents and their infants who feel they are banned from going to the movies.

"This is just a way we can reduce any tension or any concern from a parent. Come on Mondays, and enjoy it," says theater owner Bill Peebles. "If everybody knows there's going to be babies there, their tolerance level is going to be a lot higher."

Mission Valley and Lumina chose Monday nights because it is typically the slowest movie night of the week. Infants get in free, but parents are expected to take dirty diapers with them.
