WAKE COUNTY — Investigators say a small fire atFuquay-Varina High SchoolWednesday morning was deliberately set.
Firefighters put out a fire in a women's bathroom inside the school. Smoke filled the halls and students were moved to the gym and the cafeteria.
The fire did not cause any structure damage, but there is some cosmetic damage.
Firefighters used fans to blow out the smoke and students returned to their classes.
Students at Cape Fear High School in Cumberland County were evacuated from the building after smoke was reported at the school.
Officials say a heating unit in one of the classrooms was smoking, but did not catch fire. The evacuation was precautionary.
Classes resumed soon after firefighters arrived.
Last November, two Cape Fear classrooms and the weight room at the school were destroyed by fire. Those rooms just reopened.
