— A Durham man was charged Monday in the slaying on a Chatham County woman whose body was found inside her home last month.

Tracy Lynn Baldwin, 38, was found in the bedroom of her home on Red Pine Road in northern Chatham County on May 12, authorities said. Deputies had gone to the house to check on her after her parents said they hadn't heard from her in a week.

Authorities said it appeared Baldwin had been dead less than two days. An autopsy showed she died of blunt force trauma.

Louis Ephraim Wilson III, 28, of 5606 Newhall Road in Durham, has been charged with first-degree murder in the case and is being held without bond in the Chatham County Jail.

Investigators said they focused on Wilson as a suspect early on after learning he had attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings with Baldwin, authorities said.

It was later determined that Wilson used Baldwin’s bank card to remove an undisclosed amount of money from her checking account after she was last seen alive by neighbors and family members.

An analysis of DNA evidence found in Baldwin's home also linked Wilson to the crime scene, authorities said.

I hope no one in your family is ever accused of such a crime. Acussed(not convicted). When did legalized murder become the answer to the promblems of the world. To many people are serving time for crimes they didnt commit. He is a sick drug addict who needed help a long time ago. I pray for the victims family and for the accusers family. I do hope Luie didnt do this but if he did his maker will judge him. His mother raised him in the church and tried very hard to raise her children right. I do hope both families get lots of support. No one deserves what has happened here.

You say you dont understand what it wrong and then tell us...which is it??
I know Lou. He is a knucklehead, and I would guess this is totally drug related. Not surprising really. The disease of addiction is alive and well. He will spend the rest of his life in jail for a few hits on the crack pipe. Happens every day in every walk of life.

How tragic...to think you have a friend and then, WHAM!..your 'friend' betrays you - and for what? a little bit of money. SAD.

If in deed guilty, then his should receive death as well. Wonder where this guy worked? Probably nowhere since he stole her money afterwards, probably to buy more drugs. Guess he wasn't man enough to fess up to his crime, instead he runs like a coward. He deserves more than he'll get.
