CARY — The early returns on the state's early-voting program indicate that it is working -- almost too well.
Voters encountered long lines in Cary Saturday. TheWake County Board of Electionshad plenty of people on duty, but only one voting booth. Some people say they waited almost two hours.
"I think they're just trying it, and I think they're realizing it's being well received. Next time, they'll have two computers," says voter Samma Jane-Way.
This is the first year for the early-voting program. It can be used only during general elections.
Elections officials will be evaluating its impact on voter turnout.
