RALEIGH — A gas leak forced about 50 residents from their Raleigh homes Tuesday night.
Raleigh police blocked off Spring Forest Road east of Capital Boulevard at the Spring Forest Dominion Apartment Complex after a construction crew working in the area apparently hit a gas line.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Spring Forest and Hollenden Drive.
Four buildings were evacuated and the residents were taken to the Raleigh Police Academy, which is nearby. They were able to return home several hours later.
