Despite Violence In Middle East, College Students Still Want To Travel To Israel

DURHAM — Despite the violence in the Middle East, students from Duke and UNC are still planning to visit Israel in December.
Birthright Israelsends thousands of college-aged Jews to Israel every year. Dozens will go from North Carolina.
One Duke student hopes the trip will still take place, especially since recent unrest.
"It's somewhat heightened my curiosity. It gives me a window into the fervor that would create such a violent outbreak," says Duke student Adam Mandel. "I don't understand on any level since I don't have that faith."
The free trip may be canceled or postponed if the violence does not end soon.
