BUTNER — There is good news for some Granville County residents who have been experiencing problems with their water systems.
Lyon Station and Cozart Water and Sewer Districts are attempting to test the water lines in anticipation of service being restored. If water service becomes available, residents will be asked to boil their water until further notice.
Residents and businesses are also being asked to conserve water once service is restored.
Much of Butner woke up without water after several water main breaks were reported early Thursday.
In Creedmoor, water has been restored to residents along Lake Road. An six-inch section of old pipe broke and residents there were without water for about three hours. In Moore County, residents of Pinehurst are under a boil order advisory. There is no indication of contamination within the town's water system, but due to the power outage and a loss of pressure in the pipes, it is best that water used for cooking and drinking be boiled.
