Arrest Made in Cumberland County Triple Homicide

CUMBERLAND COUNTY — A frantic 911 call led Cumberland County authorities to a fatal crime scene around midnight Saturday.

Deputies found four people shot in a home on Strickland Bridge Road. Two people inside were dead, a third person died upon arrival at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and a 16-year-old is in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Brian Coffman, 19, of Hope Mills, Hilbert Burden, 50, of Fayetteville, and Michael R. Jackson, 19, of Hope Mills.

Deputies have arrested Carlton Cortez Johnson, 22, of Fayetteville. He is charged with three counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder.

Deputies say the shooting appears to be drug related.

A fifth person inside the home survived the shooting after hiding when the shooting began and called 911.
