Evacuation Ordered During Suspect's Pursuit

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Some people in a Raleigh apartment complex had to leave Sunday night while police tried to arrest a suspect.

It all started Sunday evening when police responded to a domestic dispute.

Rodney Maurice, 27, allegedly was involved in the dispute. He drove away from the scene but police knew his license had been revoked.

They pursued him on foot and later learned he was hiding out in an apartment in the Bridge Crossing complex.

Police were concerned he would hurt some of the neighbors.

One officer said Maurice has a "very violent" history and that there was some concern he might have been armed. Residents in surrounding apartments were evacuated as a precaution.

Maurice was arrested. No one was hurt in the incident.
